I am proud to announce that Marcellus Middle and High schools were recently recognized for ongoing efforts to implement a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS).
The Michigan Department of Education defines a Multi-Tiered System of Supports(MTSS) as a comprehensive framework comprised of a collection of research-based strategies designed to meet the individual needs and assets of the whole child. MTSS intentionally interconnects the education, health, and human service systems in support of successful learners, schools, centers, and community outcomes. The five essential components of MTSS are inter-related and complementary. The five components include:
- Team-Based Leadership
- Tiered Delivery System
- Selection and Implementation of Instruction, Interventions and Supports
- Comprehensive Screening & Assessment System
- Continuous Data-Based Decision Making
The MTSS framework provides schools and districts with an efficient way to organize resources to support educators in the implementation of effective practices with fidelity so that all learners succeed. Both the middle and high schools’ awards recognize efforts to collect and use behavioral MTTS fidelity data. Kudos to the principals and faculty for their tireless work on behalf of our learners.
Great Things are Happening at Marcellus Community Schools!
In other news, on October 31, the elementary school held their annual carnival and Halloween parade. Clad in Halloween costumes, the children were all smiles as they made their way through town. Many thanks to the Marcellus Fire Department and the elementary faculty and staff for arranging the event!
