Announcements and Upcoming Dates to Note

  • The first semester draws to a close on January 17 and marks the mid way point of the 2024-25 school year.   On January 15-17,  Marcellus High School students will take semester exams.   As the exam period approaches, teachers and staff are reminding students that these exams provide an opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the semester’s material while identifying areas for growth.  Exams are not just a measure of what students have learned but also a chance to develop critical study habits that will serve them well in the future.
  • January 17 is Records Day for teachers and is a half day for students. 
  • The second semester School of Choice application window is open until January 24.  Those students interested in enrolling must reside in Cass, St. Joe, Van Buren, or Kalamazoo counties and are invited to complete an application for enrollment.   Applications can be found on the district’s website at www.marcelluscs.org or at any school office.  
  • February 12- Pre-Festival Band Concert (grades 7-12), 7:00 p.m.
  • February 14- Homecoming
  • February 20- Parent Teacher Conferences from noon- 3:00 p.m. and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
  • February 21- No school for students- Professional Development for teachers.  Teachers will participate in professional learning surrounding artificial intelligence.
  • February 24- No school 
  • February 27 & 28- Band Festival in St. Joseph

Reminders:

  • When Marcellus Community Schools must delay or close school, notifications will be made on the school Facebook page and on WWMT Channel 3, WSJV Fox 28, WNDU Channel 16, and WSBT Channel 22.  In addition, an automated phone call alert is made to all parents who have provided accurate contact numbers.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to contact their child’s school office to ensure that their contact information is up to date.  
  • Homework Hour is generally available to middle and high school students until 4:00 p.m on Monday through Thursday.   Homework Hour is not offered on half days.  Students are encouraged to attend in order to complete class assignments, get additional academic support, or to study for upcoming exams.
