Superintendent's Article

The Marcellus Board of Education will soon welcome two new members.  In the November 8 election, Matt Asmus and Emily Good won four year seats, and incumbent Vicki Essex was reelected. Asmus and Good will take their seats in January. Current board members Ed Asmus, Nicki Hackenberg, Joe Tone, and Justin Ware were not up for reelection, while Sarah Engstrom and Laura Schug did not seek reelection.  

I appreciate these elected volunteers who chose to serve on our school board. Special thanks to outgoing board members Sarah Engstrom and Laura Schug.  Engstrom served on the Marcellus Community Schools’ board for eight years, while Schug served for four years.  Throughout their tenure, each volunteered countless hours to the governance of the district. Their contributions, particularly on the district’s policy and financial committees, have been invaluable.  They will be missed!

Construction of the agriculture barn is progressing.  This facility represents an incredible investment in our students’ education, offering hands-on, real-world learning opportunities that extend far beyond the classroom. To celebrate this exciting addition, we are planning a Spring Open House at the conclusion of the barn’s construction. Stay tuned for more updates on the progress of this project and details about the Open House. Together, we’re building not just a facility, but a legacy of learning, growth, and community!
