Great Things are Happening at Marcellus Community Schools!
US News and World Report released their list of elementary school rankings last week. I am thrilled to report that Marcellus Elementary was recognized on their “Best Elementary Schools” list!
Marcellus Elementary was ranked in the top 25% of Michigan elementary schools. According to the US News, the rankings are based on the “shares of students who were proficient or above proficient in their mathematics and reading/language arts state assessments. Half of the formula assessed the scores themselves and the other half incorporated the test results in the context of socioeconomic demographics. In other words, the top-ranked schools are all high-achieving and have succeeded at educating all their students.”
This recognition is no surprise to me. The faculty and staff at Marcellus Elementary are phenomenal in their dedication to providing an extraordinary education to all the children of our district. Congratulations and kudos to the parents and students of Marcellus Elementary! In the near future, Marcellus Elementary will host an assembly to celebrate another extraordinary accomplishment.
In other news, the Marcellus Elementary hosted their 18th annual Veteran’s Day Assembly last week. It’s a wonderful and heartfelt tribute to our service members. I am proud to be part of a village and school system where students, educators, and community pay tribute and express deep appreciation to our veterans. I am also abundantly grateful for and moved by our veterans' participation in the annual assembly. Their involvement helps teach and promote important lessons and values that our community holds dear. To our veterans, I extend my deepest appreciation for the past and continued service to our country and community.
I’ve been asked to announce that the Heritage Southwest Intermediate School District will host Community Forums on November 25 and December 9. The forums will be held at Southwestern Michigan College, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. and are designed to explore career awareness, career exploration, and work-based learning opportunities for students in Cass County. The events will allow discussion time about the importance of these programs and will welcome ideas to enhance students’ readiness for the future. Please visit the district’s Facebook page to find a link QR code to RSVP.
