The end of the school year is near.  In fact, seniors’ last day of school was May 17.  In the days prior to their final day of high school, several special events designed to recognize the outstanding accomplishments of the graduating class were held.

On May 7, Athletic Director Don Price accompanied nine Marcellus High School seniors to the Southwest 10’s Scholar Athlete Recognition luncheon, held at the Revival Barn, in Dowagiac.  To earn the prestigious recognition, senior athletes had to attain a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.25, play at least two sports, earn at least four varsity letters, and participate in a sport their senior year.  Congratulations to Olivia Hicks, George Chamberlain, Nathan Mihills, Talan Heimstra, MacKenzie Schuur, Dawson Lehew, Gabby Allen, Clare Flory and Addie Curtis.

On May 14, five Marcellus students earned Career Technical Education (CTE) awards at the Heritage Southwest Intermediate School District’s annual CTE Honors Night, held at Magnolia Farms.  CTE and Post Secondary Options Director Mikki Spagnoli celebrated outstanding CTE students and presented awards to deserving students from Marcellus, Dowagiac, Cassopolis, and Edwardsburg school districts. Congratulations to Marcellus High School seniors Josh Causey, Abby Asmus, Seth Newland, Brooke Pettit, and George Chamberlain.

On May 16, Marcellus High School hosted Senior Honors Night.  Clad in their caps and gowns, seniors were recognized for scholarship, citizenship, and athletics.  Several scholarships, awards, and honor cords were presented to members of an accomplished Class of 2024. Principal Wagner handed out honor pins to students with stellar cumulative grade point averages and recognized the Top Ten.  Wagner also presented medals to the Valedictorians Addie Curtis, Clare Flory, and Meridith McWilliams and Salutatorian Parker Enright!

The senior class will host Baccalaureate on June 2, at 2:00 p.m. Graduation ceremonies will follow, at 3:00 p.m.   Congratulations to the entire Marcellus High School Class of 2024!
