Superintendent's Article

Marcellus Community Schools is fortunate to be home to many exceptional educators, several of whom have devoted decades to serving our school community. This year, we bid farewell to two such educators as they retire at the end of the school year. While they will certainly be missed, we wish them nothing but the best in the next chapter of their lives.
Julie Knight has been with the district for thirty ye
ars. A dedicated and passionate educator, she began her career in 1995 as a math and science teacher at Volinia Outcomes School. For the last several years, Knight worked primarily at the high school where she continued to inspire countless students with her thoughtful instruction and unwavering dedication, helping students grow not just academically, but as confident problem-solvers and thinkers.
Dorene Budner joined the district in 2004. Over the past twenty-one years, she has served as an elementary classroom teacher and, more recently, as a special education teacher at both Marcellus Middle and Elementary Schools. Her passion to help students succeed and her work to design and implement a middle school Life Skills class have positively impacted numerous students.
In honoring Ms. Knight and Ms. Budner, we celebrate their remarkable careers and commitment to excellence, compassion, and lifelong learning. As they embark on their well-earned retirement, we extend our deepest gratitude for their service and wish them continued joy and fulfillment in the years to come.
