On Monday September 11, the students and staff of Marcellus Community Schools observed a moment of silence to commemorate the lives lost as a result of the heinous September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks on our homeland. On that date, twenty-two years ago, nearly 3,000 Americans lost their lives when four airliners were hijacked and directed toward the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
September 11, also known as Patriot's Day, was established to honor and remember the heroes who lost their lives, including first responders who showed bravery in responding to the attacks and aiding the victims. Patriot’s Day is not just about teaching history to our students; it's a reminder of our values of unity, heroism, and the indomitable spirit of the American people.
On September 18, Marcellus Community Schools observed Constitution Day. Constitution Day commemorates the September 17, 1787 signing of the U.S. Constitution. In addition to classroom instruction, fourth and fifth grade students enjoyed a presentation from representatives of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR).
Marcellus Community Schools is proud to observe Constitution Day and embraces the opportunity to collectively celebrate our democracy, patriotism, and highlight civic responsibility.
