Superintendent's Article

The start of the new school year is just around the corner.   The faculty and staff at Marcellus Community Schools look forward to welcoming students back to school on August 28 for a half day session.  In preparation for opening day, important information is listed below.

Open House and Back to School Events

Freshman Orientation-  August 21, 6:00 p.m.

School year Calendar

Copies of the school calendar will be available at each building’s open house and will be provided to students on the first day of school.  It can also be found on the district’s website at https://marcelluscs.org/calendar/

First day of school (half day schedule)
Marcellus Elementary        7:47- 11:07 a.m.
Marcellus Middle school     7:55- 10:57 a.m.

Free meals for all students
Breakfast and lunch are free for all students. Parents are asked to return the Household Report included in opening day packets. Alternatively, parents may complete the form online.  Food service staff will be available at the elementary and middle school open houses to assist families as needed.

Questions regarding specific building schedules, including arrival and dismissal times, should be directed to the building principal, counselor, or office staff.  Applicable phone numbers are listed below.

Parents who have questions or need information about bus routes or food service may contact the appropriate department or their child’s school office.

Communication

     Marcellus Community Schools will continue to use the phone alert system to notify parents of school closings, delays or emergencies.  In order for the system to be effective, please be sure to provide updated contact information to the appropriate office.

     Parents can access their child’s grades and stay up to date on academic progress by using PowerSchool parent viewer.  Login and password information can be obtained by contacting the school office.  Please go to  https://psmarcellus.berrienresa.org/public/ to access the parent viewer.  As always, parents are encouraged to participate in parent- teacher conferences, school events, and should contact their child’s teachers with any questions or concerns regarding academic progress.
