Superintendent's News

I am thrilled to announce that Marcellus Elementary and Marcellus High School were designated as Reward Schools by the Michigan Department of Education!  The Michigan School Grades System assigns each public school in Michigan letter grades and ranking labels, based on the school's annual performance as prescribed by Michigan Public Act 601 of 2018.  Congratulations to the Wildcat Community for the exceptional achievements.  Great things are happening at Marcellus Community Schools!

Marcellus High School won the highest honor due to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community.  Marcellus High School students outperformed peers, earning the top “A” grade for proficiency and for graduation rates. Additionally, our high school students scored “Significantly Above Average” in Student SubGroup Performance (i.e., economically disadvantaged) as well as on Assessment Participation. It should be noted that letter grades are not issued for the subgroup performance and assessment participation categories; instead, MDE uses Below Average, Average, Above Average and Significantly Above Average.

Marcellus Elementary also earned top marks on the School Grades Report.  Our Wildcats outperformed their peers, earning an “A” for “Performance Among Peers.”  They also scored “Significantly Above Average” for Student Subgroup Performance.

I am abundantly proud of our students for their continued perseverance and hard work, despite the pandemic-related challenges of the last few years.  I continue to be amazed by our extraordinary faculty and staff who work each and every day to provide excellent learning opportunities for all students.  I am thankful for the continued partnership with parents and families whose support is the foundation of a strong, successful school system.  This recognition belongs to all of our Wildcat community!
