Hello Marcellus Families,
The first full week of May is Teacher Appreciation Week. We will be celebrating the staff each day of the week with a special treat in celebration from May 5th – May 9th. Thank you to our amazing teachers and staff for all that you do for our students, families and school community. We would not be who we are today without YOU!
When the weather finally gets warm consistently, please remember to send your child(ren) to school in shoes with backs on them.
Our Wildcat Walk will be here before we know it. We will hold our annual fundraiser on Friday, May 23rd. This annual fundraiser is what keeps our Cats cart filled on Fridays to celebrate students’ excellent behavior, Santa’s Express and special treats throughout the year.
Please, remember that if your child is sick to call the front office to notify us. Children must be symptom free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Yours,
Mrs. B
Hello Marcellus Families,
Welcome to the 4th quarter in the 2024/2025 school year. I hope everyone enjoyed your Spring Break last week.
KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION! If you know of a 5-year-old who is looking for an exceptional school experience please have their parents come to Marcellus Elementary on Tuesday, April 15th at 5:30pm. They will learn about our kindergarten programs and what needs to be filled out and returned to enroll their child.
April and May bring with them state testing for our 3rd through 5th graders. PLEASE, make sure that your child(ren) is getting enough sleep the night before the test, arrive to school on time so that they can receive an extra delicious hardy hot breakfast from our lunch ladies, and have time to settle into their day before showing the world how smart they are.
In May we will hold our annual Wildcat Walk. More information on the walk will be coming home with each child in the next couple weeks. This fundraiser helps us provide our students with extra fun activities throughout the year and keep our Friday Cats Ticket Cart loaded with fun prizes for each child.

Mrs. B
Hello Marcellus Families,
March is Reading Month. We are trying something a little different this year by trying a book bingo. Each week students who complete a bingo will turn their cards into their teachers on Fridays (no exceptions) for a special treat from Mrs. B and the staff.
We are going to hold a Family Literacy Night on Thursday, March 20th from 5:30-7:00pm at Marcellus Elementary. Please see the flyer that will be coming home later this week/early next week. We will have dinner for the families who RSVP using the QR code on the literacy night flyer (if you need to call the office to RSVP please feel free to do so at 269-646-9209). The event will contain read aloud, escape rooms, reading with your child, and dinner. One gift card will be raffled in each grade level for the parents that have students complete 5 out of the 6 activities.
The drawing for the gift cards will be on Friday, March 21st. If your name is pulled for your child’s grade level Mrs. B will call you to let you know.
Our Spring Break is right around the corner. We will not have school from March 28th through April 4th. Students and staff will return on Monday, April 7th.
Thank you to each family that attended our February parent/teacher conferences and supported our annual book fair. We truly appreciate the volunteers and support to make our book fair happen and be successful.
Yours,
Mrs. B
Hello Marcellus Families,
Attendance is a crucial part of your child’s education. Please ensure that appointments are made after school hours when possible.
We have a very busy month ahead of us. Wednesday, February 12th is Count Day and Valentine’s Day Parties. Make sure to call the office if your child must be absent this day at 269-646-9209.
Teachers are sharing out links so that you can sign up for an in-person parent-teacher conference. Conferences are extremely important and give the teacher and you an opportunity to meet one on one about your child’s successes and struggles.
Our students will have the opportunity to purchase items from our annual book fair. Each class will be able to walk through the Book Fair on Monday, February 17th and then shop on either the 18th or 19th (please watch for which day your child’s class will shop the week of the 17th). Our book fair will be open during conferences so parents or special adults can shop as well.
Just a friendly reminder that students will be released early on Thursday, February 20th and will not return to school until Tuesday, February 25th for mid-winter break. IF we go over our allotted 6 snow days Monday, February 24th could be used as a make up day.
Yours,
Mrs. B
Hello Marcellus Families,
HAPPY FALL Y’ALL!!!!
A text message was sent out to families on Tuesday, October 2nd to sign up to volunteer to help us run our 2nd annual Halloween Carnival. If you did not receive the text, please check the Marcellus Elementary School’s Facebook page for the link to sign up.
As you know attendance is extremely important and a major indicator for reading and math skills. Please make sure your child is to school by 7:47 a.m. If your student arrives after 8am a parent or guardian MUST sign them in at the front office.
The end of the first marking period is closely approaching already. Friday, November 1st is the end of the 1st marking period. Our fall conferences are on Thursday, November 7th.
Yours,
Mrs. B
