Hello Marcellus Families,
March is Reading Month. We are going to hold a family literacy/math night on Thursday, March 19th from 5:00-7:00pm at Marcellus Elementary. Please see the flyer that will be coming home later this week/early next week. We will have dinner for the families who RSVP using the QR code on the literacy night flyer (if you need to call the office to RSVP please feel free to do so at 269-646-9209). The event will contain a read aloud with Dr. Dunn, an escape room for upper elementary, reading with your child, dinner and more. One gift card will be raffled in each grade level for the parents that have students complete at least 5 of the activities available to participate in.
The drawing for the gift cards will be on Friday, March 20th. If your name is pulled for your child’s grade level Mrs. B will call you to let you know.
Our Spring Break is right around the corner. We will not have school from March 27th through April 3rd. Students and staff will return on Monday, April 6th.
Thank you to each family that attended our February parent/teacher conferences and supported our annual book fair. We truly appreciate Megan Mikel and Debbie Churchill's support to make our book fair happen and be successful. Thank you to everyone who donated to the Share the Fair account so that every child who wanted to get a book or journal at the fair was able to do so.
Yours,
Mrs. B

Hello Marcellus Families,
Attendance is a crucial part of your child’s education. Please ensure that appointments are made after school hours when possible.
We have a very busy month ahead of us. Wednesday, February 11th is count day. Make sure to call the office if your child must be absent this day at 269-646-9209.
Parent/Teacher Conferences are on Thursday, February 19th. Teachers will be sending home letters for families to sign up for a conference time. This conference is going to look a little different. IF your child has a sheet with an extra page on the back of it the teacher is requesting a conference. IF you do not receive this form you can still ask for a 10 minute conference by filling out the bottom of the letter and your child's teacher will let you know what time they have available to meet with you. A formal letter will be sent home this week.
Our students will have the opportunity to purchase items from our annual book fair. Each class will be able to walk through the book fair on Monday, February 16th and then shop on either the 17th or 18th (please watch for which day your child’s class will shop the week of the 16th). Our book fair will be open during conferences so parents or special adults can shop as well.
Just a friendly reminder that students will be released early on Thursday, February 19th and will not return to school until Tuesday, February 24th for mid-winter break. IF we go over our allotted 6 snow days Friday, February 20th and/or February 23rd could be used as a make up day.
Yours,
Mrs. B

Hello Marcellus Families,
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!
If you'd like to wish your child/student a "HAPPY BIRTHDAY" on their birthday, it can be posted on our digital sign on Main St., in front of the bus garage, from 12:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on their actual birthday. It will be posted for 10 seconds at a time throughout the entire day and will cost just $5 (payment is due prior to posting). The child/student must be attending/enrolled in Marcellus Community Schools. We are promoting this fundraiser for the high school. If you are interested in doing this for your child please contact the high school office at 269-646-5081! Payment may be brought to the elementary office and we will ensure it gets over to Mrs. Wagner and the high school staff.
I would like to personally thank each volunteer that helped make our Santa’s Express such a great success this year. If we did not have our volunteers and our Wildcat Walk donations, this opportunity would not be able to continue.
It is hard to believe that the end of the 2nd marking period is approaching. Remember that attendance is a huge part of your student’s educational success.
Please make sure your child(ren) has appropriate outdoor attire. If they do not, please let us know and we will try our best to help with any needs.
Yours,
Mrs. B

Just a reminder that driveline is for dropping off and picking up not for parking.
Our student's will have the opportunity to purchase gifts for their immediate family members (parents and siblings) during our December 17th Santa's Express. A form to fill out will be sent home the week of December 8th.
On Monday, December 15th Santa will be making a stop by the elementary building to take pictures with each student if they would like to have one taken.
As winter is here, students will continue to go outside for recess. Please make sure your child(ren) have appropriate outdoor attire and if they do not please let us know and we will try our best to help with any needs.

Hello Marcellus Families,
Thank you to everyone who donated to our Halloween carnival and/or classroom parties. Our Halloween celebration is second to none and that is confirmed by all the fun and excitement had by our children and
adults.
Thursday, November 6th, we will hold our fall Parent-Teacher Conferences. If you have not signed up for a conference time with your child’s teacher, please reach out to them to set up a time to discuss your child’s academic progress. Friday, November 7th, there isn't school for students as teachers will be participating in professional development.
As you know, attendance is extremely important and a major indicator for reading and math skills. Please make sure your child is at school by 7:47 a.m. If your student arrives after 8am, a parent or guardian must sign them in at the front office.
Please remember that if your child is sick to call the front office to notify us. A doctor’s note must be presented to the office for the absence to be excused.
Yours,
Mrs. B
